Andrea Martinez began her involvement with COPA in 2013 as a high school student. She was trained
and certified as a youth trainer of Kingian Nonviolence through COPA’s Nonviolence Legacy Program
(NLP), and eventually became the youth representative of the NLP among COPA’s coordinating council.
Andrea’s dedication to building peace within her community drew her to other organizations under
COPA, including the Youth and Peace Conference (YPC) where she served as chair of the youth planning
committee. Once Andrea graduated from high school, she maintained her involvement with COPA while
studying at Seattle University and double majored in Humanities for Leadership and Psychology and
minored in both Religious studies and Sociology.
Now, Andrea lives in Tucson and works as a Restorative Practice Facilitator at an inner-city k-8 school
where she continues her work toward peace and healing. She now represents the Annual Youth and
Peace Conference on COPA’s coordinating council as she is this year’s Assistant Coordinator. She also
maintains her involvement as trainer for NLP.
